My Favorite Russian Immigrant, and a Sleek Pony

by Megan Bradberry on 02/16/12

Now that all the hoopla surrounding Valentine's day has settled down, and almost all the discounted candy has been cleared from the shelves, I thought I'd cut through the sweetness with an awesome color guard post.

I came across this video on Facebook of Regina Spektor's first single.  I'm a firm believer that you could take any one of her songs (or medley if that's more your speed) and turn it into a killer winter guard show or dance piece.  Plus I happen to think the video itself could inspire a show design.  Think all black & white for the first half & an explosion of color at the end.

Here's a hair how-to.

I love how it's very anti-messy, but you still have hair movement that you just can't get from a sleek bun.

In other news, wgi.org released posted this article on Tuesday.  I'm really excited to see it, but I wondered what speculations any of you may have about this particular show concept?  I would love to receive your comments and thoughts on this post.

Finally, here's a diagram that clearly shows the formula for success.  Good luck at competition this weekend!
